when I’m petsitting overnight at people’s homes I feel like I’m at independent adulthood sleepaway camp. like, I just walked to the store after work, bought groceries, got home, fed the cat, put away groceries, and decided what I’m going to make for breakfast tomorrow. now I’m going to go to sleep, and its gonna be really good

any religious stance that says gay people shouldn’t get what straight people get (sexual satisfaction, marriage, fulfilling romantic relationships, not having to marry or have sex with people they’re not attracted to, etc.) IS homophobic, harmfully homophobic, no matter how “compassionate” it claims to be. no matter what kind of workarounds are offered. any religious stance that says women shouldn’t get what men get (on the same themes, but also generally w/r/t work and life) IS misogynistic, harmfully misogynistic, no matter what claims are made about different but equally important roles. no matter how women are pedestalized.

people can do whatever they want and are under absolutely no obligation to cater to my preferences and just like umberto eco said, ugliness is infinite like the lord, so in a sense, being horrifying to me is an aesthetic virtue. all that said, people using super strong filters/blur tools to remove all skin-features from their faces is viscerally repulsive to me. it freaks me out like a basilisk. it’s very discomfiting. like, I get the impression it’s done to increase beauty, not to be purposefully unnerving, but I just see it and I’m like “you’re not supposed to fucking look like that”. it’s very uncanny valley-esque, I guess. I also in principle object to it politically (it’s 90% women doing it to their own faces on purpose in ways that echo “blemish erasure”, femininity, as always, meaning to be beyond anything human) but like every other hypothetically regressive beauty behavior, it is the individual’s prerogative.
