the 90s fantasy aesthetic of mixing totally modern (at the time) people and settings (e.g. some dude who plays guitar in a garage rock band, your linoleum tiled kitchen at two am) with high fantasy shit (wizard in full fancy robes, castle full of goblins). what’s the current equivalent of that? all I read is romance novels

awful time getting to sleep last night bc i realized I was feeling kind of unwell and temperature sensitive, decided I should go to bed before my usual four am, and while lying in the dark realized I was starting to feel increasingly nauseous. racing thoughts and panic for a bit, then just trying to fall asleep. luckily I managed reasonably fast and woke up feeling fine. go figure.
