sinbadism:
like, if i was not (as i see it) jewish by birth, i might have become a quaker. but i love judaism and i love our culture and i want to be part of that sort of genealogy of knowledge. still i really like the idea of building the kingdom of heaven on earth.
I feel similarly about this. being Jewish, and continuing the cultural traditions of my family and connecting with that culture are very important to me, and I would never abandon that, but a lot of aspects of Quaker practice (e.g. Quaker models of consensus decision making, and as you mentioned their commitment to doing good on Earth) are very appealing and cool to me. it seems like a very kind and thoughtful faith.
