Freeforms, aka Additional Tags, are essentially “miscellaneous” tags.
Here are some things that can go in Freeforms: tropes, kinks, story elements, chatter, warnings, story length, media type, episode that the story is related to, spoilers, alternate universes, and more! here are some example Freeforms: Hurt/Comfort, Watersports, Case Fic, How Do I Tag, Blood and Gore, Wordcount: Under 100.000, Fanart, Episode: s01e02 Laser Light Cannon, Star Wars Spoilers, Alternate Universe - Historical
this is a possible point of confusion, so I am saying it separately. plain character names (e.g. “Samwise Gamgee”) go in the Characters field. tags that contain character names, but also contain other information (e.g. “Slight Frodo Baggins”, “Ghost Legolas Greenleaf”) go in Freeforms. the same goes for relationships. “Frodo Baggins/Samwise Gamgee” goes in Relationships, but “Past Gimli (Son of Gloin)/Legolas Greenleaf” and “Background Aragon/Arwen Undomiel” go in Freeforms
anything can be a freeform! while it’s useless to put plain character or relationship tags in the Additional Tags field, simply because Characters and Relationships are already fields that exist, you can be as abstract or specific as you want. for more examples, you can go to
