reading theory really does something to you because I read like two pages of the history of sexuality and now I’m burning with the desire to cite the “triple edict of taboo, nonexistence, and silence” in my 800 word paper about the gender binary for my lower division intro the gender studies class. but last time I got a point off maybe for using a source outside the readings (it was just to back up a basic factual assertion supporting a theoretical claim based on a recommended source) so I’ve gotta Learn My Lesson and that’s “don’t color outside the lines”. jokes on the teacher and TA, I can and will still use the basic concept just without citing it! can’t accuse me of plagiarism for the basic idea of a practice being forbidden to discuss or participate in, decreased in both frequency and level of incidence, and invisibilized by a loud, society-wide lack of acknowledgement. think I’m gonna use the phrase “impossibilized” in here. uncle paul-michel
