I think a lot of the time you don’t understand how your body and mind can fail you until it happens. not just fully emotionally understand the impact, but understand practically what the experience may be like. earlier today I stood up and for a moment lost my vision and some of my balance, as often happens when I first stand up in the morning. this was a bit more severe than it usually is - with this and the amount of fatigue I’m experiencing lately, I suspect I need to increase my iron intake or something. well, I’m having labs done soon so we’ll see. anyway. something happened that usually doesn’t, which was that my legs began shaking. for the ten seconds or so it took for the spell to pass, it was all I could do to stand there, blind, holding the door, wobbling uncontrollably. and if it hadn’t happened to me, and someone described the experience, i wouldn’t understand on a physical level what it means to not be able to do anything else in that moment, or even stop that movement. no matter how well they described it, and how well I tried to empathize, the physicality of it just wouldn’t come through.
