do you ever read a post and go like. please join a church instead of subjecting us to this shit
not in a horny sense I mean like please find people to talk to and gain spiritual support from
I joined a temple earlier this year and can attest, being around a group of nice older people who are not absurdly logged on and talk about justice and kindness and stuff on a regular basis is pretty good. I’ve significantly cooled off from several pretty distressing discourses by putting them in the perspective of “if I tried to tell the rabbi about this argument she would be baffled by its byzantine twists and horrified by the lack of compassion on both sides, and also it would not be worth it because there is no reason she would need to know because it just doesn’t matter”. it’s a good way to meet people who have relatively positive outlooks on life and are relatively far away from the worst excesses of community infighting. it’s also nice that religious professionals are often willing to provide you with ethical counsel, and it’s something to do that involves going outside. overall I would rate getting spiritual support instead of getting mad and posting online horseshit 4/5. would recommend for people who are interested.
