Last reblog it absolutely bothers me the narrative that Japanese people aren’t getting married and having children due to anime or sex work pushed by western media when the root of the problem is pretty much society’s views about work, family and women that they resist to change topped with the current economy that makes sustaining a family a hard task. So young people have resorted to saying “fuck marriage” and live single or settle for unmarried cohabitation with their partners.

Pregnant women are threated badly

Not even gay people want marriage

It’s really not a wonder that a lot of young content creators well-known in the west aren’t married or talk badly of marriage, like Sayo Yamamoto saying that married people looked like pigs. Marriage, wife, husband and other labels are heavily associated with societal duty moreso than in most countries, and with a bunch of negative things.

Japanese media and >specialists seem to love pushing the “women are getting more freedom and want jobs - men doesn’t want to be slaves of work to support a family anymore :/” as the cause of declining marriage and childbirt, almost every article you open on the subject will inevitably have a Japanese specialist saying that. And lol they never bring up how the government cut support for couples and mothers with children (that is mentioned in one of the Matahara links).

If you have the “women are getting more freedom and want jobs - men doesn’t want to be slaves of work to support a family anymore :/” then I think it’s pretty obvious that what young people want is for women to work and get a stable income so men don’t have to slave themselves at work to support wife and children, but workplace threats women badly and hardly get punished for breaking the laws in place, so many wives resort to being a stay-at-home housewive and men double their work, which results in unhappy, sexless marriage and no children.

The whole humor based around “anime and sex toys destroying Japanese marriage and childbirth” is becoming more and more annoying to me.

just by not being racist, I can dispute100% of the nonsense white “experts” say about Japan

we don’t have cumin or garlic powder but we do have two full containers of basil for some reason, and three different brands of fennel seed.
