looking back at adults offering me alcohol in hotel rooms, adults I was friends with who talked with me about their sexual desires, who were openly sexual about characters my age, when I was like 16-17, is… not comfortable. the fact that I had no object to adults having sex with minors when I was 16, and also had regular contact with adults who created erotic content about minor characters is disconcerting beyond words.

I love ads and sponsored posts that are from government agencies telling me about food safety. hard cheeses, pears, and carrots are all ok to eat after cutting out the moldy parts - softer foods aren’t!

the coolest thing about making school mistakes like missing the first two days of classes bc despite checking multiple times you somehow had the date wrong is that you can literally never tell your parent bc they will never forget and think of and treat you like an incompetent child forever (I don’t know if that’s how this will shake out but I fucking aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

my one solace in this is that I’m unlikely to be unable to get my major classes bc my compsci class is fine, I haven’t missed it, and there’s a lot of math classes that people shuffle around in early in the semester (also I haven’t been dropped yet)

a good coping mechanism is reminding yourself of the terrible things that won’t happen even if your mistakes are unfixable. for example even if I do have only two courses this semester, the moon will not come to my house and murder me. all libraries will not simultaneously close forever. and Los Angeles tap water will not suddenly become unpotable. I won’t have to live the lonely life of a werewolf, and my feet won’t disappear off of my body. these are all very reassuring!
