I have been trying to find a novel with a physically disabled protagonist for a long time, especially after the fiasco that was Me Before You which a lot of people were praising. Does any of you lovely followers/mutuals know about any? As long as it’s available either in Spanish or English I can manage so—

Any recs?

Rose Lerner’s “Sweet Disorder” is a regency romance novel with a male lead who has chronic leg pain from a wartime injury. he isn’t healed of it by the end of the book. dis/ability and accommodations are discussed and addressed within the text. both he and the female protagonist have/had depression (in my interpretation of the text, ymmv but it reads like a pretty strong articulation of it to me). the male lead uses a cane. a secondary character uses a wheelchair. if you read this book, you will encounter the male lead thinking the phrase “women [enjoy] a masterful air”. this is not presented as true, nor is this belief a persistent theme throughout the book. this novel contains explicit het sex. contact me for more detailed warnings, if desired.
