like i know it’s been popular for a while now to imply or outright state that being femme is good for everyone but actually, it’s not. if your subversion of mainstream gender roles is “men wear dresses and makeup, women also wear dresses and makeup but it’s on Their Own Terms” I think you can see the unevenness there.

if your conception of “freedom of gender presentation” doesn’t have room for people who never want to perform femininity, it’s not freedom.
